After graduating “summa cum laude” from Boston College with my B.A. degree in psychology in 1988, I took a year off and travelled around the world on a mountain bike before returning to Boston College to complete a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology in 1992. Along the way, I completed a Master’s level internship at The University of Vermont’s Counseling Center and performed screenings for drug and alcohol referred students for Boston College’s Counseling and Psychological Services. Thereafter, I pursued my doctoral degree in counseling psychology from The University of Northern Colorado where I also worked with undergraduate and graduate aged students at UNC’s Counseling Center. I then completed a clinical internship at The Ohio State University Counseling and Psychological Services. In 1997, after relocating to beautiful Charleston, SC, I worked for The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina prior to the opening of my private practice in 1999.
My husband, Dr. Kerry Lassiter and I met and married while we were both studying professional psychology at The University of Northern Colorado. We decided to make Charleston our home as we love the weather, the beaches and beautiful marshes of the low country. In addition to a shared love of helping others with our professional lives, we also share a love of travel, physical fitness and spending time with good friends and family. We feel especially blessed in our lives for having the opportunity to travel to China and adopt our twin daughters, Lily and Mia, who continue to inspire us to be the best parents we can be.
